Maximal violation of Bell’s inequality and atomic cascade photons

چکیده

A correlation inequality is derived from local realism and a supplementary assumption. This inequality is violated by a factor of 1.5 in the case of real experiments, whereas previous inequalities such as Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality of 1969 and Clauser-Horne inequality of 1974 are violated by a factor of √ 2. Thus the magnitude of violation of this inequality is approximately 20.7% larger than the magnitude of violation of previous inequalities. Moreover, the present inequality can be used to test locality very simply because it requires the measurements of only two detection probabilities. In contrast, Clauser-Horne inequality requires the measurements of five detection probabilities. email address:[email protected]

Bell’s theorem, quantum mechanical non-locality and atomic cascade photons

Bell’s theorem of 1965 is a proof that all realistic interpretations of quantum mechanics must be non-local. Bell’s theorem consists of two parts: first a correlation inequality is derived that must be satisfied by all local realistic theories; second it is demonstrated that quantum mechanical probabilities violate this inequality in certain cases. In the case of ideal experiments, Bell’s theor...

Testing Bell’s inequality with two-level atoms via population spectroscopy

The violation of Bell’s inequality [?] is a mathematical expression of the remarkable quantum phenomenon of entanglement. It may be viewed as a manifestation of the irreconcilability of quantum mechanics and “local realism,” as was first revealed by Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen (EPR) in their famous gedanken experiment [?]. Perhaps the most familiar version of the EPR experiment, with two spin...

Entanglement and Bell’s Inequalities

Our goal for this experiment was to demonstrate violation of Bell’s inequalties. This was accomplished by producing two polarization entangled photons via spontaneous parametric down-conversion using two type 1 beta barium borate crystals. With polarizers placed in front of two avalanche photodiodes, we observed how the alignment of the polarizers affected the number of observed photon pairs co...

Maximal Bell’s Inequality Violation for Non Maximal Entanglement

Bell’s inequality violation (BIQV) for correlations of polarization is studied for a product state of two two-mode squeezed vacuum (TMSV) states. The violation allowed is shown to attain its maximal limit for all values of the squeezing parameter, ζ. We show via an explicit example that a state whose entanglement is not maximal allow maximal BIQV. The Wigner function of the state is non negativ...

NMR analog of Bell’s inequalities violation test

In this paper we present an analog of the Bell’s inequalities violation test for N qubits to be performed in a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) quantum computer. This can be used to simulate or predict results for different Bell’s inequalities tests, with distinct configurations and larger number of qubits. To demonstrate our scheme, we implemented a simulation of the violation of Clauser, Horn...
